Field Dressing/ Carcass Care
Proper field dressing and care for your deer in the field is the first step in ensuring high quality meat for your table. We strongly encourage everyone to take special care after harvesting/recovering their deer. Field dress your deer as soon as possible. Avoid breaking open the stomach, intestines, bladder and rectum to avoid meat contamination. Use a clean water source to rinse out the chest cavity. Hang your deer from the hind legs, not the neck. Open the chest cavity to speed up the cooling down process of the carcass as soon as possible.
